Signs of Spring...

We hope you all had a Happy Easter! We shared the day with Murphy and Oakley in Hoosier National Forest in Indiana. We went for a hike to enjoy the beautiful day. We saw many signs of spring: sunshine, flowers growing, trees budding, birds chirping ... and then it started to snow!! Old man winter just doesn't want to go away. Our tour of Indiana included a short drive through French Lick - the hometown of Larry Bird - no wonder he left and never came back.

Don't forget to cheer on the Louisville Cards in the Sweet 16 of the
NCAA Men's Basketball Tourney.
L-YEAH! GO CARDS!

Shamrocks and Dirty Socks

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We ran in the Rodes City Run 10K (6.2 miles) on Saturday, which was the 2nd leg of our "Triple Crown of Running"races preparing us for the half-marathon coming up at the end of April. We had some great weather and were happy with our times. Over 5,000 runners competed in the race and we each finished in the top half. The next race is a 10 mile run which takes place on March 29. Keep us in your prayers on that one!!

The pre-race lines at the porta-potties were sooooooo long and Cori was pretty much the last person in line, so this bottom picture looks like our view for most of the race.

Ms. Oakley is almost as big as Murphy now. She is starting to lose her baby teeth, which we find around the house. Her new favorite game is to steal the clothes (especially socks) out of the dirty laundry basket. She is now able to go to the Dog Park, so we look forward to warmer & drier (less muddy) weather.

We are looking forward to a relaxing Easter. Wishing you joy & peace that comes from knowing that Jesus is Risen!

Welcome to the very first blog of the Burnetts in the Bluegrass...

We had a very snowy weekend (for Kentucky standards). We got 10" of snow and the whole city shutdown. Since we haven't ever had more than a few inches the whole time we have lived here - we hadn't yet made a purchase of a snow shovel...so we had to borrow one from the neighbors so we could shovel the driveway. We also had to teach the neighborhood kids how to make a snowman. Murphy and Oakley thought the snow was great and enjoyed playing in it and eating it too.

We celebrated Murphy's 2nd Birthday! We invited some "friends" over for cake. It was a dog-gone good time!

HAPPY 2nd (14th in dog years) BIRTHDAY MURPHY!!

We are also training for a half-marathon (13.1 miles) to be run the week before Derby. Speaking of Derby, we are excited for our 3rd Derby and we hope to have a lot of visitors to take part in the festivities. Let us know if you want to be a part of DERBY '08 (May 3rd).

We will continue to keep this page updated, so check back for our next installment...
