2013: Year in Review

I have to say I'm ashamed that it's been over a year since we've written on our blog. It's definitely not to lack of things to talk about - I guess we've just been so busy living our life that we've failed to put into words what a great year 2013 was for us!  We are very thankful for everything we were able to see and do in 2013.  Here's a few of the highlights:
  • We started 2013 off in New Orleans!  We drove down to the Big Easy to watch the Louisville Cardinals play in the Sugar Bowl and also to take in some of the sights down South.  We had a great experience - awesome food and drinks, interesting culture, and we witnessed the Cards beat the Florida Gators to take the Sugar Bowl Championship.

  • We spent a lot of the winter following Louisville in basketball and decided after their decisive win at the Big East Tourney that we'd take our chance and buy tickets for the Final Four in Atlanta.  We weren't disappointed and were in attendance as the Louisville Cardinals won the National Championship.  Needless to say after the weekend of basketball I had chewed off all my fingernails and felt like I was having an anxiety attack for all the drama and excitement the games provided!
    Go CARDS!
  • After leaving Atlanta, we drove to Augusta, Georgia to attend the Masters Golf Tournament at Augusta National Golf Course.  My parents joined us and we all marveled at the beauty of the grounds.  Even those who aren't big fans of golf would be blown away by the cleanliness and beauty of it all.

  •  We spent some time enjoying our beautiful area - trips to Charleston with my parents in April, we rented a cabin in the mountains of North Carolina in June, we went on a camping/boating trip at Lake Jocassee with some good friends in August, we hiked with the pups to some beautiful areas - Table Rock, Dupont State Forest, Lake Jocassee, and as always we spent a lot of quality time at the neighborhood pool despite being the rainiest summer on record!

  • We attended some awesome concerts this summer - Darius Rucker, The Black Keys and Mumford and Sons were just a few of the favorites!
  •  We held our 3rd Annual Kentucky Derby Party.  This was our largest gathering and biggest payouts!  We all cheered on the horses and had a few bourbons too!
  •  We welcomed visitors from afar: my parents visited in March and October, our good friend Shawn Moulton visited for the Derby party in May, and Matt , Cara and Maslow made a few trips down from Charlotte to hang out with us in Greenville.
  • We attended a Oktoberfest Party hosted by our good friends Maren and Sebastian from Germany.  It was fun to see the festivities and traditions of Munich!
  • I visited South Dakota in May for my cousin's (Daniel & his wife Leslie) wedding. In September, David and I were able to make it back to SD to see family & friends and to honor my college basketball coach Barb Felderman at our Lady Hardrocker Reunion.  So nice to be back in the beautiful Black Hills especially when the weather was so nice!
  • In October, we ran our 4th half marathon. We spent 3-4 months before training for it.  All-in-all with were happy with our times, but decided our next one would be in a little warmer setting.
  • I spent most of November and December traveling for work.  I had the opportunity to visit 3 countries - Spain, France, and Italy during 2 different trips.   I  spent most the time working, but thanks to the locals was able to try some of the local food and drink.  At the end of the first trip, David and I were able to meet in Spain and spent 10 days touring the beautiful country.  We visited Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Granada, and other cities along the Costa del Sol.  We had many adventures and made a lot of great memories.  Not to mention we ate a lot of yummy food and wine!

  • We spent the Christmas and New Years holidays at home in Greenville. After so much travel, it just felt great to rest and reflect on the year that we had.  We are so luck to have so many great people in our lives, we have good jobs that challenge us every day, and we have each (dogs included) to share good times together.
Best wishes to your and yours in 2014.  We promise to do a better job updating this blog, if nothing else for ourselves.

Hope you can come visit us and be part of our 2014 memories!

Our Love -
David, Cori, Murphy and Oakley
